Modern modesty

Source: Hello magazine
As you look through these photos from recent newspapers what is the first thing that strikes you about them ?

MODESTY

Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge (in cream), Princess Mary of Denmark (in orange) and the Sophie, Countess of Wessex (in blue) are all out at Royal Ascot (the annual horse racing event in Britain) a few days ago and the first thing that hit me was their outfits.

Here are all three modern women in modern outfits that are ALL modest.

The lengths of the dresses are below the knee, the necklines are high and cuts of the dresses are elegant.

Don't they all look feminine and pretty.

Their make up is minimal, so to their jewellery. They are all wearing their hair up and it looks  beautiful and sophisiticated.

We too can dress elegantly, modern and feminine and still remain modest in our entire.

    1. It is, when I was doing this post I looked at the clothes of some of the other guests who were wearing shorter dresses and they didn't look pretty or feminine at all. Covering one's knees really does make for a far more elegant outfit.

  2. Makes me want to take out my sewing machine. I probably wouldn't find that style or even a modest dress in the stores.
    Aren't they lovely?

    1. They certainly are but sadly modern women don't look at these women and want to copy - they much prefer to look at the hollywood stars instead :(

  5. Very nice to see well fitted dresses in beautiful fabric. It is also nice to see sleeves on dresses. They are a nice change of pace from all of the sleeveless dresses being sold and worn year around in the US. Certain occasions and some seasons are fine for sleeveless dresses, but they have been overdone lately.

    1. I am an older woman and my arms no longer look very pretty and sleeves made an outfit look so much better one me - even capped sleeves look better to no sleeves.

How about the strapless wedding dress - I am so tired of seeing them as I don't think they look nice at all :(

  9. They look so lovely! Although, I must admit, I could do without the hats! :) I would feel silly wearing those hats! I would LOVE to wear simply elegant dresses such as these ones....but despite a good diet and lots of exercise, my tummy isn't shaped well for a dress such as these ones. Maybe one day...? :) I have always loved seeing pictures of the royals because they are always dressed so tastefully!

    1. I don't plan to wear the hats either!! A little over the top for wearing to the shop!! One of the problems with this style of dress is that it does reveal a tummy is you have one - I prefer something that hides the tummy or has a pattern that takes the eye away from the bumps and lumps!!

  10. Absolutely! We should adopt royal style for sure. :) Found you on the Modest Mom link-up ... on which I also shared a blog post about royal style. Ha! Kindred spirit.

  15. Absolutely gorgeous examples! My modesty and how I dress is ever-evolving. I definitely wear pants. I like makeup sometimes. I wear a bathing suit. But I notice now that I am a mom, I really want to come across very classy

    1. I agree - they are beautiful outfits :)) I am with you, I do like to be stylish and tend to wear classic designs as they don't go out of fashion quickly and therefore can sit in my wardrobe for many years and still look good.

  16. It is very unusual for two of the women in your photo to dress modestly. I am referring to the Duchess of Cambridge and the Countess of Wessex. I don't know anything about the woman in the red dress but she is not modest because she has a split in her dress at her cleavage area (look at her sitting in the carriage. The Duchess of Cambridge (in particular) is known for wearing very short skirts and tight trousers so why you think she is a role model for modesty is beyond me. The other Royal in the photo (Sophie Wessex) has also worn short skirts on occasions and it is highly likely that both women lived with their Royal boyfriends before marriage. Whatever else these women are, they are NOT modest. I live in Northern Ireland which is part of the UK and my daughter and I are ALWAYS dressed modestly.

    1. These were shown as examples of modern modest clothing - and whilst all three women may from time to time wore less modest clothing, they all do wear beautiful modest clothing far more these days (especially on formal occasions) and they look lovely. What one woman views as modest may not be modest for someone else and that is between God and the particular woman in question. All three of these women dress beautifully, feminine and on many occasions modest and that is lovely to see in age when many women do not. And whilst it may not be your standard of modest, it is for most Christians women.
